The Founder: Sakura Chen In 1998, facing a diagnosis of thyroid cancer, Sakura Chen moved to Hualien to focus on her recovery. During this period, her dedication to a healthy diet led to a remarkable discovery: the abundant fiber in wild vegetables significantly improved metabolism and vitality. This life-changing realization inspired her to establish "Sakura Field Healthy Wild Vegetable Restaurant" on November 11, 2001. Born during the spring cherry blossom season, Sakura is a proud daughter of the Hakka community. Her passion for preserving Hakka culture is evident throughout the farm, where staff members are encouraged to speak the Hakka language and the landscape is adorned with creative Hakka-inspired art. By artfully blending traditional Hakka recipes with fresh wild vegetables, she has created a unique culinary experience that is both nutritious and delicious. Every dish is prepared with a focus on wellness—low oil, low salt, and absolutely no MSG. This minimalist approach reduces the burden on the body, allowing the pure, original flavors of the ingredients to shine through.
Our Journey and Vision The planning of our leisure farm began in 2014, leading to the grand opening of the "Sakura Field Wild Vegetable Classroom" on October 1, 2020. Over the past decade, we have meticulously shaped the farm’s landscape and invested in professional team training. Today, our gardens flourish with over 40 varieties of seasonal wild vegetables, cultivated in harmony with the natural rhythms of the Earth. Through immersive experiences and guided tours, we promote the philosophy of "Farm-to-Table" education, preserving the rich heritage of Hakka and wild vegetable culture. At Sakura Field, we strive to coexist peacefully with the land, respecting nature and sharing the core values of health, gourmet vegetarian cuisine, and joy with everyone. Driven by a commitment to environmental sustainability, we advocate for the importance of resource recycling. We hope to inspire every visitor to cherish our resources, minimize waste, and turn these eco-friendly values into tangible actions in their daily lives.
In harmony with nature, we embrace a philosophy of gratitude and eco-friendly farming. By cultivating wild vegetables with care and transforming kitchen waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer through resource recycling, we nourish the land. Together with all living things, we strive for coexistence, mutual growth, and a flourishing future
